Summary: I purchased this as a way to upgrade to a more robust means of keeping the huge quantity of pictures and video I have. I no sooner finished transferring EVERYTHING to the server and reformatting the old drives to free them up (after all, with RAID1 I should have the data backed up already, right?
Summary: Had it for less than a week. Could not get much support from ZyXEL. They basically told me they could not help, and that i should return it to reseller. Ended up ordering a Asustor AS-200TE. Much happier with this product, and they even have support that at least tries to help.
Summary: I wish I could give this negative stars. This is the most un-user friendly device I have ever used. I have worked with computers for almost 20 years, I have a degree in both Information Technology and Computer Information Systems, and I work as a system engineer for a major server manufacturer and I...
Summary: Heres a short summary why, 1) After about a week the fan started making an irritating buzzing noise. The noise itself didn't affect me as much as the knowledge that something was getting bruised up inside and going to fail eventually :( 2) My primary purpose of getting a NAS was to take care of my...
Summary: I was expecting a really simple system, not that much hassle. It has the time machine option, but it took me four tries to get it working because during the backup it just stopped midway and I had to restart doing the backup.
Summary: Tech support also does not respond, i've been waiting 3 days for a response with nothing so far. I would avoid this unit.
Pros: It's cheap
Cons: I purchased two of these devices to be used to store backups coupled with Western Digital Black 1TB drives. The backup product makes a MD5 hash of the data before sending it to the NAS. On both devices in different sites I have seen file corruption problems where the data fails MD5 verification.
Summary: It appears that the nsa310 is not supplied with the memeo backup software that is mentioned in some reviews. It has facilities for backing up the device to another network storage device and for backing up usb sticks. Howevever, there do not appear to be any facilities for backing up a local PC.
