Do Not Buy

m w., Newegg
7 July 2011
  • Summary: Would give it zero eggs if possible.
  • Pros: None!
  • Cons: Shipped from factory with firmware that is incompatible with Win 7 64 bit OS. Spoke with Zyzel Tech Support and it is known issue with no fix in sight after 3weeks. Tech sypport reccomeded that I use a Win XP machine to get it to work - lol. Very poor planning Zyxel. Will not buy another product ...

RUN AWAY!!!!

Anthony K., Newegg
6 July 2011
  • Pros: It would be awesome if it worked!
  • Cons: I received the item on Monday. I was able to configure everything pretty easily and was very happy. I woke up Monday morning and the device said it had a bad hard drive. I ran a test on the drive and sure enough it was bad. I replaced the drive and tried to upload the firmware to get things going...

Way too slow

Andrew W., Newegg
17 September 2010
  • Summary: Get what you pay for I guess.
  • Pros: Supports both Windows CIFS/SMB and Linux NFS. Inexpensive.
  • Cons: Way too slow. Could only get 10MBps on a Gigabit LAN. CPU usage on the NSA210 was pegged at 100% while trying to transfer. I had installed a WD 2TB WD20EARS drive in it. I decided to keep the WD drive, but return the NSA210. Perhaps some firmware update down the road may fix this, but until then,...

Slow

Tim A., Newegg
1 June 2010
  • Summary: I bought this for faster transfers between my PC and external HD. I have everything connected up at 1GB and this thing crawls. Not impressed at all.
  • Pros: Small, easy to setup, lots of functionality
  • Cons: Slow, slow, slow. Tranfers at 12MB/sec. My USB drive is faster.

weak weight support for the onboard SATA connector

H. Fang, Amazon
22 May 2010
  • Summary: the SATA connector on main board is extremely fragile. It's only connected by soldered pins, and has to support weight of a hard disk. No wonder it all fell apart and broke on my second use..

Low, low quality

Dero K., Amazon
22 May 2010
  • Summary: First off, when you plug in the hard drive you feel like the whole bay will break, and then you set it up, waiting forever at it "reboots" for hours. Then it locks you out saying you have an incorrect password, even after you set it multiple times.

They had a good Idea just no follow through

Phillip R. Rominger, Amazon
22 May 2010
  • Summary: I had high hopes that I would be able to eliminate an old home server with this item. It was received as expected and was very easy to setup. It is unfortunate that it does not do the job of the old server, or come anywhere close. A backup of my small laptop takes from 7 to 9 hours to complete.
