Summary: I was concerned reading the reviews on this product... how can there be so many 5 star and 1 star ratings?? Oh, I know... buyers might not understand what this is. I read one review where someone complained they could only access via their network! No kidding, the name of the product is NAS.
Pros: Price, ease of use, Linux menu, customer service of both new egg and western digital is why I purchased this.
Cons: activity light went out recently. called WD, they sent me a refurbished unit that couldn't be logged into. Given access to customer support, they couldn't log in either. Western digital sent me a new unit and extended my warranty for an additional year!

Summary: I have had this unit for over a year now and I have not had any issues with it at all. I can access this from anywhere including my iphone5S, ipad mini2, ipad (2011 version) and both of my laptop computers from anywhere in the world.
Summary: So far, I have had no problems setting this up. If you use the setup for the drive, you can actually set it up so multiple users can access your NAS drive remotely using a LOGIN and PASSWORD, which can be changed or deleted at any time.
