Excerpt: I was tired of using small external drives to back up each individual computer. I needed a way to back them all up that are on the router. This was the easiest way to back everything up. It was so simple. I plugged it in, hooked up the wires, when to a website address, and it did everything else for me. Now, everything is backed up, and if we have any issues, I can restore the data. Lot cheaper than the Geek Squad!
Pros: easy to set up., no loading cd into computer, set up in less than 30 minutes
Summary: I love RAID 1! This machine allows you to either A.) Use it's full 6tb of space as if it were one single drive or B.) Set it to duplication which means that you only get to use 3tb for your 'stuff' and the other drive duplicates that 3tb as a backup encase one of the drives quits working. This is a NAS that means that you plug this unit into your router via ethernet cable and then you can access it's contents from all the devices that are connected to your network (e.g.
Summary: this shipped super fast and on time. Once we get it all up and configured I know it will work great. But, to get it into mirror mode it took pretty much all day. So do not be in a hurry to get this up and running.
Summary: I have had this unit for over a year now and I have not had any issues with it at all. I can access this from anywhere including my iphone5S, ipad mini2, ipad (2011 version) and both of my laptop computers from anywhere in the world. I pulled up my family photos from a cruise ship during a Christmas 2013 curise to the Caribbean. Very impressive. I get email messages letting me know if/when the unit is losing a connection from my home wifi. How cool is that?
Summary: So far, I have had no problems setting this up. If you use the setup for the drive, you can actually set it up so multiple users can access your NAS drive remotely using a LOGIN and PASSWORD, which can be changed or deleted at any time. My Son lives over an hour away and he is able to remotely access this drive from my network using his login/password. Of course, YOU, THE OWNER, can give the user LIMITED access, if you wish. That is totally up to you.
Pros: Fast access. Easy setup Setup uses RJ-45, which can be connected to a router OR a hub. In my case, it is on my hub upstairs, away from the router for now. Does not run HOT like some drives I have had. Of course, I have it sitting on a LAPTOP COOLER that is on all the time, so it is very cool to the touch. and JUST WORKS GREAT! I did get this on sale (3TB for $124), so wait until it is on sale again.
Summary: These things are great! Easy to install and makes your network so much more versatile. I use mine to store hundreds of old movies I had on VHS tape. The space savings alone is amazing. And now these movies are available on any computer I choose to use. I've also put alot of older out of print LP records on the cloud as mp3 files. I even dedicated a section to old time radio programs.
