Summary: I am truly disappointed in my 4TB Sharespace that I recently purchased. 1. Would not perform firmware upgrade 2. Can't access your files unless you screw around with the settings and change them from one setting back to Share 3. Drives constantly lost volumes after transferring data to them 4. Technical Support ís terrible.
Summary: Overall a good unit. It is let down by poor implementation of media sharing and downloading. For storage it's great. When you buy this product, be smart and buy a USB hard drive and run back-ups, just like you would with any other storage device. Needs a faster processor and better interface.
Summary: The mother board failed after 1 year. Although the drives are ok, the firmware does not allow you to just transfer the data to another computer by simply connecting the hard drive. Although the unit can be replaced by WD under warranty, the data will be lost. So what good was it to have Raid 1? The recovery price I have been quoted by the only authorised company to do so is between $1300 and $4200 Australian.
Pros: small foot print
Cons: mother board failure firm ware not compatible
Summary: Warning Mac users! This device will not accept certain file names containing some characters you can use on a Mac. Result= WD will change your file name after copying to something unidentifiable or worse - skip it during the copy. There is nothing you can do to fix this, WD tech support told me it is Apple's problem. The Remote access for Mac users is still in "Beta" (as of 09.20.09) . And is "single" file web based access. I was prepared for slow, but not this SLOOOWWW.
