Summary: Western Digital Corporation (WD) is well known in the industry for their superior quality ECO friendly Hard Disk drives and also other home media entertainment devices in their WD TV Streaming Media Player line of products. WD has been making Network attached Storage (NAS) devices for quite some time now & generally has been well received by consumers especially in their WD My Book Live Duo series.
Summary: I'm going to be upfront that this is not the most useful review I am writing. I received this product as a Vine reviewer, but I am not an IT person (though I do have some experience with rack-mounted servers, plus I have a Synology Home NAS for personal use). However, WD markets this as a solution for Small Business and Home Office users. So I will try my best to write this from my perspective as such a user. Setup of the server isn't too difficult.
Everything arrived as described and on time - BUT! Update!

Summary: Nice unit, the only down side is the Microsoft OS 25 User Limit. Nice unit for the money... would be 5 star of there was no limit to how many people are allowed to connect. We are a school and wanted to use it to access general files for the students and staff. We just ended up using it for a backup to another file server.
Summary: I am a learn as you go and do it yourself kind of PC user. What I mean by this is I learned about electronics and computers as I went. Networking didn't enter the picture until I had a few computers, and now I have several devices that also access my wire and WIFI network. I also work remotely on occasion, so computers server a professional as well as personal function in my home. I found the instructions to be fairly straightforward.
