Good Price, Decent Basic NAS

Excerpt: First NAS device. Wanted something basic, easy to use, with some "pro" features. This seems to fit the bill. Was easy to setup and get connected to. RAID was simple to configure. PC and device software works pretty well. You can't stream movies directly to Apple TV but you can do so through AirPlay from your IPad/IPhone (I watch most films directly on IPad anyway). Works well as a Windows/Time Machine backup device. Looking to use iSCSI features later.
Cost-effective and straight forward multiuser network storage

Summary: A cost-effective resilient storage device, giving 3TB in mirror mode or 6 in non-redundant mode. Accessible locally or externally without special firesall config. My Cloud app is easy once you know how, i cluding auto atic baackups of photos as you take them. So pics don't disappear if you lose the phone. Can make private spaces for different users, or shared space.

Summary: After reading copious reviews on NAS drives I was dubious about this purchase however wouldn't be without it. For the money I will say it's one of the best performing NAS drives available and so easy to set up on my laptop, phone and PC. I am no tech head and although I had a tiny issue with the IP at the start of the set up the manual and online support quickly help me sort that out and never looked back. I can upload pictures I take to it from around the world!
Summary: Got an issue after changing PC and router. Very hard to contact WD support. Raised a ticket on support portal which they closed without any response! Very poor. I've raised another ticket and hope they respond. I might remove this if they do, but until then shoddy experience!
