Good Price, Decent Basic NAS

Excerpt: First NAS device. Wanted something basic, easy to use, with some "pro" features. This seems to fit the bill. Was easy to setup and get connected to. RAID was simple to configure. PC and device software works pretty well. You can't stream movies directly to Apple TV but you can do so through AirPlay from your IPad/IPhone (I watch most films directly on IPad anyway). Works well as a Windows/Time Machine backup device. Looking to use iSCSI features later.
Summary: I found WD My Clound EX2 and was happy because I bought this was a great idea and a perfect solution. I found the product has several problems that makes this product useless. The problem is the following. The unit CPU work 24/7 at 100% because it has issues with a process name "Convert" that tries to create thumbs to media files. The problem I´m experimenting it not an isolated case, you can find in WD Community lots of people having the same problem.
Cons: Not been able to access the unit, when you have access the unit crashes and need to be restart

Summary: After reading copious reviews on NAS drives I was dubious about this purchase however wouldn't be without it. For the money I will say it's one of the best performing NAS drives available and so easy to set up on my laptop, phone and PC. I am no tech head and although I had a tiny issue with the IP at the start of the set up the manual and online support quickly help me sort that out and never looked back. I can upload pictures I take to it from around the world!
Summary: Got an issue after changing PC and router. Very hard to contact WD support. Raised a ticket on support portal which they closed without any response! Very poor. I've raised another ticket and hope they respond. I might remove this if they do, but until then shoddy experience!
Summary: Very pleased with the product. The only problem with the product is the power down settings. You can't have the cloud power down at all the times you require. It can turn off from 12am till 7 in the morning say but not from 1am till 7 in the morning because of the slider to operate this function. Hopefully they will update the software that controls it. You can link your pc to your router via Ethernet to speed up your transfers of data to your cloud.

Summary: Can't fault the hardware, but the android app is a bit annoying in that it does not let you Back-up your phone to a folder of choice (just public who then anyone on your network can read an write)

Summary: This NAS has so many features! Great in my home network, stream from this NAS to my tv etc with no lag/buffering at all. Disappointed a little with the 2x available USB 3 ports, copying and pasting is not at USB 3 speed. All together I am very pleased with this NAS.
