  • Summary: For those of us that remember 40mb hard drives and 5.25 floppy disks that held 720k, 10 terrabytes of data sitting in this little enclosure is just phenomenal. Not to mention the price, cost about $300/tb to implement, thats not too shabby.
  • Pros: Provisioned a 10TB NAS in less than 3 days time, for a total of about $3100. Put 7 WD 2tb drives in this box after updating the TLER settings, created the RAID 5, assigned an IP and a share folder, and it was ready to go. Moved 2tb onto this so far and it's been acceptable if not stellar. Has 2 N...
  • Cons: On large transfers (~20gb, 500k docs) to the NAS, performance degrades over time to really unacceptable levels (~1mb/sec). Upgraded RAM to 4gb (from stock 1gb) to hopefully improve this performance. Reading from the NAS however isn't a problem, sustained read rates are fine. It could be the WD20E...
