Customer Service is the Worst & the Device is Not Trustworthy

Steve V., Amazon
10 September 2013
  • Summary: I purchase the 4100evo in December 2012. Aside from the usual startup questions and problems, I found that there was no phone support even though there is a phone number for tech support.

What a piece of crap...

HappyPetOwner, Amazon
16 June 2013
  • Summary: Wow, if you're looking for some bang for your buck...look elsewhere. This is a four bay NAS enclosure with the most un-user-friendly interface I have ever seen. This thing is going back. I am a technology specialist and I'm beating my head against a wall with this thing.

Support is awfull

Ives V., Newegg
7 May 2013
  • Pros: None Thecus a company that makes junk.
  • Cons: I have a 2 bay unit that is not recognized by the system using the approved drives. Tech support will not respond to email. If you call you will be on hold for ever. Have units from Sans Digital , Zyxel and Buffalo with no problems

Affordable NAS

David C., Amazon
2 May 2013
  • Summary: I currently have this NAS N4100EVO configured with 4 hard drives in RAID5. The hard drive that I am using is Seagate 3TB (ST3000DM001), and it is listed as a compatible hard drive with this NAS. You can review the compatible hard drive list from the manufacturer Thecus N4100EVO product website.

Solid NAS product

William S., Newegg
11 January 2013
  • Summary: I have four 2TB Samsung drives installed, giving me about 6TB of storage space. I can stream my media to my TV through wireless router and it works very well. You should upgrade memory that comes with this NAS, you will notice hike in performance.
  • Pros: This is great product, I don't really understand two previous negative reviews. Build of this NAS is top notch, is solid and substantial. I tried couple other NAS before deciding to keep this one (Synology and Qnap). Other products were flimsy and built from cheap plastic. Thecus is mostly metal,...
  • Cons: Transfer speed can be higher, but not a big deal.

Never buy this unit

Wayne, Amazon
8 January 2013
  • Summary: My unit has now lost it's RAID configuration twice. I purchased a NAS and configured RAID-5 for resiliency. What have I got with the Thecus - nothing but stress and lost data. I'm going back to USB disks - far more reliable than Thecus NAS and far cheaper.

Unstable and bad product

Nir Z., Newegg
6 January 2013
  • Summary: DO NOT WASTE YOU TIME ON THIS POOR PRODUCT! I got this product 2 weeks ago and was trying to set it up as RAID 5 for no avail. When I got it, i read some of the bad English documentation / videos. I have upgraded the device to its latest firmware and thought i'm good to go.
  • Pros: Nice Case Interesting idea
  • Cons: 1) dropping RAID with no warnings 2) failing Hard drive where is it not true 3) slow Web UI 4) Fan runs fast 5) RAID build takes more than 30 hours 6) hard drive bays make of plastic and can easily break 7) bad documentations

Horrible, just plain horrible

Ray K., Newegg
2 January 2013
  • Pros: It's quiet.
  • Cons: Where to start, where to start... OK...the rear USB ports are non functional for external USB drives. Support said that this will be fixed in a new firmware upgrade. That was 3 firmware releases ago and still no resolution. The error logs generate nightly errors with the Rsync backup, which are h...
