Works great

Nathan F., Newegg
2 May 2010
  • Summary: I purchased this to put 3 of the WD20EADS 2TB drives in. I downloaded the newest firmware and applied it before I even got started as there were some somewhat important bug fixes in the newest firmware.
  • Pros: Works well, looks nice, super quiet and web interface works well too. The combination of the spacing between drives and the quiet case fan works great as after days of being on I powered it down to move it and the drives were barely warm to the touch.
  • Cons: Not sure why, and this may not be the NAS array's fault, but one of the drives decided to drop out of the RAID, which put in in degraded mode. The drive wasn't dead and in fact I checked it as the spare and added it back and it's been rebuilding. The rebuilding is taking a LONG time. It has been ...

Thecus N3200PRO

Tim M., Newegg
2 March 2010
  • Summary: I wanted a network storage device but didn't want another PC running fulltime. The Thecus N3200PRO works great for this purpose.
  • Pros: 1. The unit is small and very quite. With nothing else in the room running you still can not hear it. 2. Very sturdy construction 3. Easy to setup, install drives, configure network, RAID 5 support
  • Cons: None at this time.

Great unit

Tadd F., Newegg
18 May 2009
  • Summary: It did take a long time to build the raid 5 array across 3 1TB drives, but well worth it.
  • Pros: Solid construction. Easy to mount the drives and get the unit connected. I got this unit so that I could have a raid 5 back up solution for all of my digital pictures and provide an easy central location for my wife to access the pictures. It is working just like I wanted and I'm very happy with ...
  • Cons: The instructions are very limited, but not really a con if you are tech savvy.

Poor shipping and plenty of problems

Louis D., Newegg
8 May 2009
  • Summary: While there wasn't any physical damage to the unit when I opened the box, I suspect the startup problems are related to something that happened to the NAS in shipping. It was shipped in the OEM box and not double boxed. I also don't know if the noise is normal.
  • Pros: 1. Raid 5 with three drives 2. Well constructed case 3. Compact size 4. Drives were quick and easily installed
  • Cons: 1. I've been unable to consistently boot the unit up.Sometimes it hangs during startup and I must hold down the power up button or pull the plug. I contacted Thecus support and they recommend returning the unit. 4. The LCD often reports incorrect information on the drive status. The amount of up-...

Easy No Fuss

Paul J., Newegg
15 April 2009
  • Summary: I've had this setup as RAID 1 with 2 1-terebyte WD drives and it was flawless. I recently purchased another for RAID 5 and is failed after building and I copied the first files to it. The drive must be bad and I'm sending it back. Does make me nervious and I may stay with RAID 1.
  • Pros: Plug and Play, solid build, stays cool, fits right in. This is one nice looking NAS. Integrates with my PS3 perfect.
  • Cons: Instructions are not the best, clinical. Would like to see real word examples for setting up iTunes, FTP, etc.
