Good replacement for a DNS-323

JB, Amazon
27 September 2014
  • Summary: I bought this as a replacement for a failing D-Link DNS-323. I backed up my data off the D-Link, took the 2x 1.5TB drives out of the D-Link, installed them in the Synology along with 2x 4TB drives and set it up with the Synology Hybrid Raid.

great for the price and updated regularly by vendor

Graymor, Amazon
9 June 2014
  • Summary: This is a great NAS solution for the price. The box is really tiny--I was like, hey, that can't be the whole thing, when it came from UPS, but it was. It is very quiet, and runs well. Problems I have found with this are as follows: 1.

One of the cheapest RAID 5 NAS options available

Chad Kieffer, Amazon
16 March 2014
  • Summary: I wanted RAID 5 and this is one of the least expensive 4-drive bay options out there. So far, I'm quite happy with the purchase. It is, as others will point out, slower than plus options from Synology. But it is quiet, simple to manage, Apple Time Capsule compatible, and full of features.

Does what it's supposed to do

Perry, Amazon
9 February 2014
  • Summary: I looked into a number of NAS devices before I settled on this one. You can configure it in various RAID configurations as well as let the device select it's default RAID, which is what I let it do. I have (3) 750GB drives and (1) 1TB drive and the system handles it fine.

Love It - Considering Buying a 2nd

Audio Junky "C3", Amazon
4 January 2014
  • Summary: Summary: Fantastic 5-star NAS with a few small bugs in the apps (drops rating down to 4). I am an IT professional that has used NAS storage for home network for about 18 years. I've had DLink, Netgear (ReadyNAS DUO) ZyXel and LaCIE.

Great Entry Level NAS

N. DiPasquale, Amazon
21 September 2013
  • Summary: I bought this a bit over a year ago from a separate retailer, and have been quite impressed with the quality and features that come with the Synology family. I use it for a number of purposes, including the download station, media server, and cloud station apps, and use it to backup my PCs, as a...

Very good product

Keith, Amazon
10 April 2013
  • Summary: I would have given it 5 stars, but Synology could do a better job at providing more detailed instructions on the setup process beyond just connecting the hardware and starting the NAS up.

Expensive but a great NAS

Tom Servo, Amazon
15 March 2013
  • Summary: The DS413j is a refresh of the DS411j 4-bay NAS model. Primary differences are 1.6GHz CPU & 512MB DDR3 RAM on the 413 vs 1.2GHz & 128MB DDR2 on the 411. Quite frankly the 411's hardware specs were disappointing (especially the 128MB RAM) and it's good to see better hardware.

Great place to store all your files

Craig Harris, Amazon
11 January 2013
  • Summary: I gave this unit 4 stars because of the price and the print server doesn't work as well as it should. Even though its price is competitive with other brands it is still a little too expensive for the consumer market.

Does the job

Robert Wood, Amazon
19 December 2012
  • Summary: This is my third Synology "home class device -e or j". It meets my requirements, but it's a bit sluggish on the interface, performs strong from a file delivery perspective (streaming video).
