Summary: Synology has a very attractive website and some great graphics that lead you to believe it's a very user friendly product, but try finding simple instructions on setting up your diskstation and you're not going to find it. The instructions you do find only explain the ideal scenario.
Summary: It does not work as advertized on the hibernation. It is constantly waking up, wich consumes energy and adds a lot of wear and tear to (very expensive) hard disks. Plus, even in hibernation the fans are always on. Synology says it is because of ARP packets, but since almost all networks have ARP packets, it looks to me like a desing fault. This is not a green product. Boo for synology.
Summary: So far, this unit has been nothing but trouble. We are still working to resolve the problems, but in a nut shell, the unit is not properly recognizing hard drives. I had expected much more from Synology, and maybe this is a dud unit. Time will tell.
