Summary: As an IT and Network Administrator, I understand the differences in network storage. When it came time to build my Synology DiskStation 2-Bay Network Attached Storage (NAS) to stream all of my media throughout the house, I wanted to ensure I bought the right hard-drives for that level of constant network access and digital multi-tasking it would require.

Summary: I find myself very disappointed overall with this purchase. I thought I had done enough research. Research that suggested this brand was the most user friendly and comprehensive unit for a NAS backup device. Having played with it for a while, I am not really happy with it and now regret the purchase. Some of this may be due to the overall technical nature of NAS, but I find this device and its interface and usability to be very poor.
Summary: I work for a manufacturing company that utilizes Synology as much as possible. We currently have 5 models from the 214+ up to a large enterprise SAN. I, also, use the 214+ at home. This is an all around nice file server. I use it house my media server as well as a website. I have had 0 problems so far. The 2 drive bay makes it easy and cheap to add disks. If you need more storage, you can use the USB 3 ports to add an external drive.
