Summary: I write this review more than two years after having bought and used this nas, because it is definitely wonderful. The setup is simple. its performance is stable and secure management interface is very good applications have with cell phones and tablets are excellent. would not hesitate to buy one of these or a similar model later.
Summary: Great product that has survived in warmer environments. Storage management is not that straightforward but still available. Additional software packages extend the usefulness of the NAS such as home theatre streaming from network; camera DVR storage, etc.
Summary: This thing is amazing! I WILL purchase another when it dies or becomes out dated, I have recommended Synology to three other friends and they are all very happy! One of the best things about the device is the active support. It seems that Synology continues to make improvements to applications and the OS/DSM versions which I really appreciate. It does SO many things its hard to list them all here.
Summary: I've only just set it up and - wow - this NAS is fast, capable, configurable, and full-featured. I bought it to replace my Windows 2008 Server that was used to share file and printers for my home network. I always had problems with getting WXP and even some W7 resources locating the resources, and managing a server was too time consuming. The NAS replaces all of the server functions I needed, including setting up a home web server in the future.
Summary: I love this NAS drive. The DSM is what makes it so great. Has tons of features and Synology is adding more all the time. Some people do not see the value of a two drive NAS device but for me it was perfect. I have two 3TB for a total of 6TB drives in the device which when set up with raid configuration you loose one of the drive for redundant storage. Which is fine for me right now.
Summary: I have owned and tested several NAS devices like WHS, FreeNAS, others and this is by far the best one yet. I have only owned it for few days but my initial reaction is very positive. It is the first network device including enterprise level devices where when you change the IP from DHCP to static the device applies the config and refreshes to the exact page you were in the GUI and you don't require a re-login.
great home server, but definitely has a learning curve

Summary: I got this to replace a dying Windows Home Server, and to be able to look at our 36000 photos on our TV, etc. This little box works admirably for both. It isn't as seamless to use as WHS, but overall, seems to work well, and have more long-term reliability I think, as it uses a real file-system and is Linux based. Very pleased with it!
