Summary: My DX213 repeatedly drops disk # 1 from the volume. The disk disappears from the HDD management list, and the volume is degraded with the log claiming that the disk was removed. The disk reappears after power-cycling the attached DS412+, but must be repaired by initializing (again) which takes a full day to complete. This has occurred with two different disks - both in slot # 1. Both Quick and Extended S.M.A.R.T. tests reveal no problems with the disks.
Summary: As a basic NAS it's great but useless if you want to use the features. 1. sync with cloud interferes with sync with other computers. Use either but not both together on the same folders. 2. 'Time backup' only allows one job to be scheduled ever. 3. Sync is really just a one-way backup, not a true sync. 4. it won't backup to an external eSATA drive reliably because it periodically re-names the drive and this means the backup software can't find it again! 5.
