What is your Data worth?

Summary: I store many photos. Memories that are nonrecoverable. With Synology, I got what I wanted: Reliability Expandability Ease of use Storage Capacity Has been running smoothly with 2 Hitachi 1tb in Raid 1. In the future, I will buy the 5 bay expansion box and run Raid 5. It is not as fast as an internal drive because it uses the network. I use gigabit. Goes to sleep sometimes too fast but this setting can be adjusted. Sits on my desktop and makes quiet clicks.
Summary: i have installed around 8 of these, on many friends and business, and they are just flawless! fast/reliable/configurable... and they keep improving features to be better!! all worth an investment!
Summary: This is a great NAS. It's been extremely reliable. I'm not a computer expert and still found it relatively easy to set up. Plan on purchasing Enterprise HDD rather than Desktop especially if you're running it 24/7. I would have rated it 5 stars if it was easy to customize using the Synology software but unfortunately it's all Greek to me.
Summary: After testing a BUNCH of other NAS devices I have finally decided that Synology will be my only choice in the future. This thing is REALLY fast (over 90MB/sec over Gigabit LAN with jumbo frames) and easy to set up. I setup with 2 x 2TB WD hard drives and then upgraded to 2 x 3TB WD hard drives without missing a beat. They aren't cheap, but save so much time they are worth the extra cost.
Summary: This NAS has a lot of features. I can connect to it via my iPhone, my Xoom, and obviously my laptop. I didn't quite get the blazing speeds mentioned, this was also via WiFi. The tech support did respond quickly when I had questions and I can say speeds are pretty fast if directly connected via ethernet. I would buy this all over again.
Summary: This NAS is easy to setup and extremely fast which made transfering files from my old NAS much faster than I expected. I configured the device with two Western Digital Caviar Black 2 TB drives in RAID 1. I have seen network transfer rates between the Synology 710+ and my Intel SSD at up to 900 Mb/s on large (over 1 GB) video files. When transfering over 17,000 photos of a few MB apiece, the transfer rates from my old NAS to this device were 500 Mb/s to 600 Mb/s.
Summary: Diskstation was a pleasant surprise. Everything was faster, simpler, and just worked. NAS are not always like this, this my 3rd. I use NAS as a backup, family media storage, and a scratch disk when I move large files between machines. My old ReadyNAS Duo was slow, puny 10MB/s. Diskstation claims and delivers 10x the speed, going to the network no longer slows me down, directories open instantly. It is a beautiful thing to copy a GB in 10 seconds.
Summary: Great full featured and fast NAS also for home use. A little expensive but I think it is worth every penny. I use it at home to store movies, pictures and music for the whole family to enjoy. It's Photo web album ability is great, you just publish a site on the web so family members can always see the latest pictures. I advise to put in the maximum supported drive size. I put 2 green 2T byte WD drives. Plug and Play.
Summary: Synology NAS products have a great feature set and the chassis on this particular DS710+ model looks sharp. The problem for me, however, was the level of "thumping" noise periodically coming from the chassis. With two Seagate Constellation ES ST32000644NS drives installed the level of thumping noise was enough to outright annoy me, but even when I put a single Western Digital WD4000AAKS drive in, as a test, I could hear the periodic thump above the overall background...
