Summary: Before you buy it may be best to check on reviews from others. Mine worked reasonably well for a few months and then the network interface went dark. All Leds seemed to be working but I could not access the box at all.
Summary: My company purchased over 5 of these and also 10 of the 3 1/2" version. They have been nothing but a problem, out of all that we've purchased we had huge install problems. Their DSM software install is such a pain.
Summary: I bought this unit for a small office setup. It has been reliable, quiet, and fast on my local network. However, it has been incredibly slow for remote transfers (about 200kb/s to 300kb/ instead of 60mb+ for local) despite my ultrafast $70/month isp connection.

Summary: The packaging is good however the software is terrible. We were never able to get the disks to format. There are no diagnostics other than 'failed to format' and a link to insure you have installed drives that are 'Synology Tested' At this point, you are pretty much done.
Summary: My Diskstation slim has just failed, destroying the data held on it. All my files and music -nice What is the point of having a RAID array, supposedly having safe,redundant duplicates of the data, if the machines destroys all of them.
