Love it! The king of the NAS!

Summary: Well, it's my 3rd Synology NAS. Like the guys from Apple saying:"It just works". There are some glitches here and there, but in such complex device, you can't expect it all working "with no glitches" at all. Like the interface, the apps and the building quality, its also quit. Using mostly popular features like Photo and Download Stations, but also Backup and Shared folder sync (to other Synology) Using it to backup photos to Amazon S3 and sync it to Google drive.
Summary: A great little NAS but the firmware and web interface is really what Synology apart from other devices. It's like using a real computer within your browser! Everything is a real, proper user interface with draggable icons and windows on the "desktop". I'll certainly be buying another!
Summary: The Synology DiskStation DS411 is an excellent addition to any network - be it home or work. The DS411 can accommodate four disk drives up to 4 TB in size. This device is also a server with many useful applications that can be easily installed including a media server, iTunes server, web server, and so on.
Summary: For the price, I cant imagine there is a better unit on the market than this one. Have been able to set up everything i have attempted with minimal assitance from support, which i must say is excellent they provide understandable answers that even i can understand
Summary: Well, after a few days and more help from Synology and the forums there I finally got my NAS working mostly how I want it. I find and hear my NAS fans very barely which is great! I find these fans...quiet fans! The Drives are working GREAT as far as I can tell and the rest of my Synology NAS! I would like to find some more WIFI media players to run in different rooms. Working on that off and on. Thanks! p.s.
Summary: I originally purchased a Synology on the recommendation if a friend who did computer graphics. I was looking at these over other manufactures due to the Hybrid RAID, and its mechanism for expanding a RAID array. Most other devices in this price range support only standard RAID levels, with no options for expansion but wiping and reforming the array. This device, including the DSM software is closer to a home server than a simple NAS.
Summary: Wish there was a way to get Spotlight to index the DS411 drive(s) so I could search for files on the NAS. It wasn't working the first time I tried it. Then one time I was able to do a search using 10.7 Then later I could not search for file names. Synology support mentioned in their email to me that Spotlight searches don't really work.
Summary: I didn't have too much trouble setting up my DS411 after receiving it but lucky for me I have worked in networking and server support for many years which helped get it back onto my home network IP address range without too much trouble. Pros. It integrated into my home domain without too much difficulty. I'm still having some resolving problems on a couple of PCs but that is overcome without too much difficulty.
Summary: There are more comprehensive reviews on this particular server - we've had it now for 2 weeks, and it is fantastic. Some reviews say they are expeiencing slower speeds, but we replaced our router because the Ethernet ports now run at gigabit speeds whereas the older routers run at 10/100 - i.e. meaning you are constrainted to 10mb speeds instead of nearer 100mb speeds with a gigabit router hardware.
