Great NAS. No data lost after one failed disk

  • Summary: Bought this about 4 years ago. Very happy with this NAS although one of the disks failed after two years. Plugged in a new disk and it rebult itself without losing any data. Exactly what a NAS should do. Synology continues to support this with periodic firmware/SW updates

Good product, until it breaks... Customer service is non-existent.

  • Summary: I purchased the D509+ and extension unit DX5 about 2 years ago. Both units performed fine (albeit slow writing because I've got it running in RAID5 mode). About 4 weeks ago one of the drives died and I tried to replace the dead 1.5TB with a 3.0TB.

Defective and Bad Customer Service

  • Summary: I received this item very fast from Amazon.com! I continue to be impressed with their service. Sadly, not so much with Synology. The device was defective and tech. support was not very helpful. I know the hard drives I bought work as they were used in my old NAS and reformatted and tested.

Unreliable - think twice before buying

  • Summary: One of the worst NAS I've bought - spent countless hours - tuned out a brand-new unit was faulty. On top of the hardware issue, customer support is terrible. Untrained professional who just drew party line rather than helping solve customer problem. Guy named Andy wouldn't xfer to support manager!

  • Summary: i have lots of family pictures, family clips and music files. i used to have to do manual backup and moving files between pc/laptop/ipad and upload pictures to some online web sites. no more, this wonderful nas makes my life as a home IT technician much easier. thanx for a great product.
