Summary: I own five synology units and just purchased another for my brother. This particular model is sturdy and features eSATA which is much faster than USB for external devices. Takes a while to wake up from sleep, but the GUI is amazing which IMO is the reason to pay a little more for a synology over...
Rare piece of computer hardware that has become more valuable with age

Summary: Initially bought it just for basic NAS/file service several years ago. Synology regularly provides updates to DSM that add significant functionality -- although it is worth waiting a bit and reading their forums because a few releases have caused problems.
Summary: We have several of these NAS units in our network (DS412+, DS1511, and DS410). Their performance and reliability are amazing. We love the throughput from multiple users and heavy large file transfers.
Summary: I originally bought this to back up my pictures and videos of work-related projects. Then, to reduce all that paper in our office, we bought the Fujitsu document scanner Fujitsu ScanSnap S1500 Instant PDF Sheet-Fed Scanner for PC and it became obvious we had to have serious, rock solid back-up...
Summary: I purchased my Synology DiskStation DS410 a year ago for my business and it has proven to be a well built solid product used nearly every day for all our digital storage needs. In fact, we have stopped saving files to our local computer hard drives and now store everything on the network.
Summary: I bought the Synology DS410, but I lost its power cable. It was my falt. And as I live out of USA, it was difficult to purchase a new cable. So I got in contact with Synology and they provided me an outstanding support.
Summary: I was debating to purchase an Iomega or Netgear NAS and during my research I found the DS410. I was very specific to my needs but when I compared the 3 units the Synology DS410 kick-a55! EASY setup. My wife love browsing all our family pictures via Ipad application and android.
Summary: I purchased the DS410 after a thorough review of all different NAS. My IT guy stopped by, hooked it up and set up all the computers. The office has 11 employees and 16 computers (workstations) and a few wireless printers. The DS410 has been in for about three weeks and we have not had a problem.
Summary: All I can say is WOW! This is a very quiet, extremely reliable, nice looking, soundly built, easy to set up and wonderfully supported product. The software interface is fantastic. It wasn't cheap but it is definitely worth every penny I spent.
