Fast, stable, quite and fancy interface

Summary: It seems to me that the recent NAS products from Synology are getting better. I have been using DS2411+ for about half an year and did not encounter a single problem. It is quite and fast. The DSM interface is also easy to use. At first I used 8 HDDs to form a single Raid-10 array for maximum data protection. 3 months later I decided to add another 2 HDDs to expand the original Raid-10 array. No problem.
Summary: I have 3 Thecus models (N5200, N5200 Pro and a N7700). I will compare the Synology DS2411+ to these. I use Network Appliance storage in my day job. First I purchased a Thecus N5200 for home use, then later the N5200 Pro and N7700 for some small workgroup level projects before the NetApp budget came through. The Thecus hardware was innovative at the time (compared to say the Buffalo Terastation, had one of those too).
Summary: For this review I can't comment on all the features of this unit, which are many from Media Server to Camera Surveillance Station Recorder. We just use this as a File Server in a Windows Environment with Active Directory. The setup was very easy. Install your drives, I used the WD Caviar Green 3TB drives for my last setup - I have had no problems or issues with any drive I have used on several Synology NAS Drives we own.
Summary: This device greatly exceeded my expectations. It supports more hard drive models than it claims to. The UI is HTML5 based and flawless. The built-in security features have effectively blocked and reported repeat unauthorized access attempts. The community support is great. The OS is easily expandable to support many common Linux dpkg's. I am very pleased with this device and would definitely recommend to others.
Summary: Hi, just wanted to post some clarifying information regarding this unit (which I ordered today) for questions that I had answered by Synology. 1) Even though the product feature page for the 1511 and the 2411 are slightly different, both units have the same exact features. Basically, any of the stuff that people have written about that they can do with the 1511, can be done with the 2411. I know that it was *most likely* the case, but I wanted to be sure.
Summary: Bought this expansion unit for my DS2411+ Unpacked it, plugged it in, slid in a hard drive, and set the array expansion in motion. Simple and effective. Well worth the money. I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere, but it does come with its own Infiniband cable, so no need to buy one. Simplicity itself. Awesome!! Update (7th September, 2012)- After some months of use, I can say that this unit has performed superbly.
