Summary: This has been one of the best products I've ever purchased. The DSM software that runs on the box is really great. I put 2 1.5GB drives in mine and it has been running flawlessly ever since I purchased it. The updates are welcome surprises and the app store is great.
Summary: I bought an Amazon refurbished DS213+ for only a few dollars more that for a DS213j unit with no problems. I coupled this with two 4TB WD Red drives and an APC BE550G uninterrupted power supply. Setup was simple for anyone who can work their way through software to create shared network folders.
Summary: I have had the Synology DS2air for about 2 months now and I really like it. It sits way on the side and does its job serving as my NAS and as my personal cloud storage. I love the many features it has: serving as a wireless router(hot spot) and as a wireless NAS (which is how I use it).
Summary: Easy to install and set up. Great apps! Very versatile: from media server to backup to surveillance. Tip: keep Synology assistant installed on your computer for quick connection and use the latest DS manager software (5 or higher) for easier access across the Internet.
Summary: I love the feature-rich content of this drive and how simple the setup was. It uses a Linux-based OS so it's requires little memory while turning out the performance you need to access, backup and stream video files.
Summary: Read a lot of reviews (on Amazon and CNET) and talked with numerous individuals before I purchased this NAS. This device has exceeded my expectations. As a lot of the reviews on Amazon indicated, it helps to have a little IT experience while configuring the NAS but with the information available...
Summary: I needed a shared storage device for the home. I needed it to have a RAID-1. This did both and everything was very easy to setup. We have a Mac, PC and Ubuntu computer in our house and this cleanly worked with all three.
Summary: Installed 2 WD 2TB Red HDs in RAID1, no problems at all. Would suggest this to anybody looking for an NAS of this size. Synology, Western Digital, and Newegg - works for me.
Pros: I've had this unit less than 24 hours, so all I can comment on is the setup procedure, it is simple. It is already doing what I got it for and I look forward to learning the many uses it has. This is my 1st NAS, so I wasn't drawing on any experience to set it up.
Summary: Plain and simple, this is a great product. I am a software engineer and consultant and needed something like this to stay organized with all my computers for all my doe and files. I don't like using the public file boxes all the time for everything and this is very personal and private.
Summary: simply put this is the best small office, back up device though of to date. it is super simple, super powerful and I could probably teach my dog to use it based on the easy to use DSM web portal.
