Not too bad, but can't be arsed with it a bit

Summary: I'm reasonably proficient with computers, but by no means a tech guru. I wanted something that was pretty plug and play - I work in I.T. all day (not as a techie though) and don't want to faff about with computers in my spare time. This was not as plug and play as they would have you think. It plugged in and booted up no worries. Got it connected and mapped the network drive to my Windows laptop no worries. Could create directories etc.
Summary: I set this up with the aim of it not only performing as a NAS but also as a WIFI hotspot. Result is that the NAS functions perfectly well with a comprehensive set of functions - way beyond my needs. But the Wifi was pretty lame - lots of dropped connections. I've had to switch the Wifi off and revert back to a Netgear router to perform that function.
Summary: Purchased the Synology DS213 air DiskStation around 6 months ago. It installed reasonably easily, setup took a little while but the instructions when downloaded are comprehensive. I installed 2x 3Tb disks and connected it via ethernet to my ADSL Wireless router, and then I am able to access the disks over my local wifi.
Summary: it works great. but too expensive. adjustment is simple, not much knowledge required. available from the outside, very useful. works as DLNA server, so I'm watching all stuff on my phone and tablet all around the house. one thing that wi-fi signal is not strong enough. I'd add an antenna to it.
