This is amazing!!! I dont know how i lived without it

Summary: I bought this as a device that i could setup in raid configuration. I am so pleased to say that it is such a little package with so many features. I currently can access the device from my smart phone or pc at work by setting up a dynamic dns on it. I have the blog feature set and it works great.
Summary: After doing a lots of research on NAS drives I decided to get the DS211J and do not regret the decision. I put 2 2 TB disks into it and just plugged it all in. Formatting took a while, not as long as some had said, probably an hour or so.
Summary: The Synology unit has performed exactly as promised. However, to avoid the initial setup blunders I committed, it's worth spending a few minutes with the Synology web site (especially FAQ and their very informative Wiki); I promise the investment of a few minutes will save you more than that.
Summary: Ok, finally I choose Synology DS211j over QNAP TS212. On spec., QNAP wins handily (256M vs 128M, 256 vs 10 iscsi targets, 2k vs 512 user accounts, 256 vs 64 concurrent connections, etc). However it sorely lack one feature that I am looking for: RAID rebuild / capacity expansion.
Summary: Owning the DS1511+ myself and knowing what a perfect NAS Synology makes, I purchased the DS211 as gift to a friend of mine so he could easily share pictures and video clips of his newborn son with friends and family. Thus far, like its bigger sibling, the DS211 is working just A-OK perfect.
Summary: added disks and loaded software. up and running in minutes. no problems so far room for improvement - need the ability to use a single map point to access the contents instead of the defaulted multiple shares. this also affects the ease of creating backups for the NAS.
Summary: As another reviewer noted, this is not a "drag and drop" hard drive addition. This requires some networking sense and will take a little time to setup, test, and make use of... I was a bit disappointed by the hassle, but among the NAS options I looked at, this one seemed to be the best.
Summary: I purchased the DS211 to replace another, older technology NAS I had become very frustrated with. I was teetering on getting the DS211j and did actually, but the same day ordered the DS211 and sent back the 211j when it arrived. I thought, for $100 more I could get a little faster speed.
Summary: Very pleased with its performance (2TB Samsung F4 EcoGreen 2TB 32MB 5400RPM 3.5 Inch SATA-II Internal Hard Drive - 3 Year Warranty - OEM ). It starts quickly and files are readily available. It is worth spending a short while reading the online support documentation to help you set up the server.
Summary: While this is a bit more expensive than some, it really is a great piece of kit. Setup was painless, access via the Internet painless. Bursting with features. I'm sure those with higher IT skills might find something to moan about but not me.
