Solid NAS for the Money
Michael S., Newegg

Summary: I had purchased this device over a week ago and could not get it to work. I left a bad review and was getting ready to get an RMA for this unit. It turned out I had a bad socket on my UPS. Out of grins and giggles, I tried a different socket and it worked right away.
Pros: The firmware works great and the UPNP actually works well on this. I dont use RAID but have 1 disk backing up my server/workstations and 1 drive streaming media to the PS3. Many other NAS will not work with the 2.70 firmware on the PS3.
Cons: It does feel a little flimpsy but it is a $200 multi disk NAS with RAID Support. I wish I would have bought the 4 disk unit now.
Summary: eSata port located on front. Would be better if located on rear of unit.
Pros: Mail server, Web server, SQL/PHP built in, Remote Access to all settings and my files, Frequent Updates and great support, Loaded feature set and excellent menu system with built-in Help. No knowledge necessary to set up all features. I am running dual Seagate 1.5 TB hard drives in a Raid 1 mirro...
Summary: I have not used all of the features since I have not had a lot of time to play with it. Planning on setting up the media server either with the PS3 or a stand alone unit. I am using it mainly for backups from our 3 desktops and 3 laptops and I amy put our websites on after I get a firewall setup.
Pros: Plenty of features, easy to install and setup.
Summary: I originally thought that the performance was abissmal. It took a full day and night to rsync about 80G worth of jpeg and raw files from a machine on the same LAN. And it took longer to rsync from one of the volume to the other.
Pros: Great home unit. Super quiet, spins the disks down after inactivity. Very easy to setup.
Cons: Not much memory or horsepower. Don't use compression when doing rsync to/from the unit.
Pros: Very nice product, very easy to setup, it has a ton of features and very good so far. all the Web based software (photo album, filestation, personal blog, etc.) make it a very powerful server. I read a review that said there was no recycle bin, but the latest firmware update corrected this. Recyc...
Summary: Not only have I bought two of these so far, but one of the projects that I work on has bought two more based on using mine. So far, I haven't used the RAID configuration, so I can't comment on that.
Pros: Solid, quiet, easy to maintain. Quite fast on my local network. Works great with Acronis for saving full image backups. Ajax user interface to File Station has been quite helpful in allowing us to share big files.
Cons: The one thing that does bug me is that the File Station does not seem to allow one to select multiple files when downloading. Synology updates firmware often, however, so this improvement may be added soon (or already).
