Summary: I finally was able to afford one of these from a once in a lifetime Newegg sale!! Thank you very much Newegg!! Wanted a 1512+ for a couple of years, started with a 212+ then a 712+ ...
Pros: Quiet, fast, easy hookup, the features on this product are long, HIGHLY RECOMMEND 200 mbs read/writes
Cons: NONE!!......for my tech experience, but like some other reviewers have said the processor ...and I believe this should be upgraded to the new Intel processors...it would produce the next generation server.....like Apple products...power sells!
Summary: It is rare that you buy a product these days and a year later are still being impressed with it. Top notch equipment mixed with excellent software that keeps getting updated and improving. I had bought one of their DS111 a long time ago after reading all it claimed to do and the good reviews.
Summary: I have owned this now for about one year and it is awesome. I have owned other NAS devices in the past and this is by far the fastest and most versatile. It is also really quiet. The only complaint that I have is the app that they provide to record cameras. You can only record one camera for free.
Summary: Excellent network attached storage (NAS) and a whole lot more. I use with 5 WD Red 3 TB hard drives. Works great for local file storage, video surveillance, and remote file access, I've not experienced any of the failures others have mentioned and the unit has had power cycled several times and has...
Summary: It's one of the greatest investment made for my home digital storage, file sharing, media center, mobile access/support...etc. I'm working in IT field for over 15 years and I can assure you that this product not only has great quality and reliablility, and it can many great features to explore.
Summary: I do not use a lot of the features in this unit, but for a good home NAS with a lot of redundancy options, it works quite well. Just be sure you understand how you want this device configured and understand what all of the options mean.
Summary: Make sure you're ready for the investment. With the server and the drives, I was looking at $1500 ish. Other things to consider are your home network capabilities. I need to upgrade my router and all my cabling. Currently through my router from my comp I'm only getting 11.2 mb/s write speed.
Pros: Running 5x 3tb WD Red drives. Using Synology Hybrid RAID which is basically RAID 5 in my setup. Have roughly 10.8 tb for storage. I'm using this primarily as a media server to stream to my xbox so my computer doesn't have 4 external hard drives and is on 24/7. Media Server app is awesome. Simple ...
Cons: Price, but it wasn't too big of a deal. Honestly, it's worth it for how simple this was to set up. Keep in mind that I have very limited networking knowledge. I know computers but networking always gets me confused unless it's simple. And it was a breeze for me.
