Summary: This is a must buy if you want a home network server. I purchased this to serve all my TV shows and movies in my house. I dropped a 1tb drive in and away I went. I can now access my shows and movies from any room in my house, just by connecting to the network.
Summary: Very easy to set up and very robust. Took a while to figure out all the features and apps as the manual seems written for more experienced networking/NAS users. I use it to share files across my home network and also as a streaming server to my Droid phone via the Synology app.
Summary: I guess I could some up my review of the DiskStation DS111 as simply awesome. I had the NAS up and running in under 20 minutes, this included installing the HD Drive. I plugged in my FreeAgent External drive and I was instantly viewing the files on my PC. Did I say the DS111 was awesome ?
Pros: using it as an NAS for a Samsung 2TB drive. Works like a dream, super quiet, super speedy. Extremely easy HD install, excellent operating system software. Do not hesitate.
Cons: It can do so much more than simple NAS, it's easy to get confused, the actual owner's manual is some 160 pages. Wouldn't hurt to have some simplified language sections for posers such as myself. Just a thought.

Pros: One of the easiest NAS products to have up and running with very little effort, and in a short amount of time--including firmware and DiskStation Manager 3.2 control panel software upgrades. Extremely easy to manage--literally set it and forget it. It just works. Reliability and dependability (no...
Pros: Performance and features are amazing. About 18 months ago we purchased two Synology NAS at work for backup purposes, and found them to be speedy, solid, and easy to use. My Buffalo NAS died at home, and I replaced it with the DS111. What a difference! I need it primarily as a file sharing/backup ...
Summary: I am not a tech geek, just a business person who needs centralized storage. We are a MAC office with some occasional PC visitors. The product works well, set up not really that easy to if you have never configured a server before.
