Summary: This is a great NAS system. I am new to NAS storage systems and i read a bunch of reviews and read that you couldn't really go wrong with this setup. To install the hard drive was a snap and setup was extremely easy (go to the Synology website and they list compatible hard drives).
Summary: I normally don't write reviews on products I buy off of Amazon.com. I felt compelled to let everyone know there is one major flaw with the Synology Disk Stations. When you upload tons of photos to the server it wants to create thumbnails so you can view them.
Summary: This NAS is a great product, even more so considering its price. It works perfectly as advertised, and on the plus side it has a linux OS that allows you -provided you have the know-how- to add more services and applications to it, further enhancing its capabilities.
Summary: If your into multimedia this is a perfect little server. I have no problem streaming movies and music to my family room. Download station is another excellent feature of this server. I can load up torrents and download them overnight allowing me to shutdown my desktop completely.
Summary: The unit is physically well made and has tons of features and so far works well. But I found the setup interface a bit buggy and poorly documented. For example: * an Action drop list has various commands that effect a folder but all are greyed out - why?
Summary: I have mostly positive feelings about this NAS, but keep reading. My original intention was to put one of these in my home and second one in remote locations hundred miles away. Second intended purpose was to use DLNA streaming to S..Y playstation.
Summary: This is my first product review for a Synology DS110j NAS(network attached storage) for my failed HP Mediasmart server LX195. It was only a year old before it took a crapper because of failed ethernet port.
Summary: Recently picked this up as I needed a place to store backups for my pc's. I also liked the fact that it would interface with my PS3 (Playstation 3) and act as a media server. What I didn't know is that it comes with an older version of the firmware on it.
Summary: I have been using this product for almost a month now, and I am very happy with it. It gives you all the control that you need in a NAS. The only feature I wish it had out of the box was a module for OpenVPN or some type of VPN server.
