Needs a little work for connectivity

Summary: Very good for what I'm using it for. This is only being used to back up my laptop and desktop and store movies, photos and music on a wired home network. I use it for complete home access to these files and it's done a great job of it except that sometimes you lose access to it and have to reboot.
Summary: Cheap plastic chassis, cheap plastic parts, cheap fan. Second unit arrived DOA just like the first one. Fan stopps working after 10 minutes. The unit over heats and shuts down repeatadly. Straight out the of box. The first unit had a lose fan and basically not working at all. This is the worst quality control problem I have ever encountered.
Summary: I bought this NAS about 8 months ago to replace a Netgear Readynas Duo that I could never get to work well. The Synology has been great and I put two 3 TB WD Red drives in it. Here are the things I use it to do. 1. Backup 2 Macs using Time Machine. 2. Backup up a Windows laptop using the Synology backup software. 3. Use cloudstation to sync about 2.5 GB of important files between my cellphone, two iPads, a Mac laptop and a Windows laptop. 4.
Summary: This device was installed in a simple scenario, for backups and a shared folder of family photos and video. After 18 months, it failed, without being touched, power surged, or otherwise stressed. The symptom? A blinking blue light. Synology support seems to feature a multitude of 20 step diagnostics that feature complete dis-assembly of the entire device, right down to its housing, and then holding a button down for an extended period. Futile.
Summary: it took a while to figure out but it was 1000% faster than the my book live duo(100 MB/s compared to 11 MB/s) .it functions with multiple apps you can add third-party apps you can build it up to your TV use as surveillance manager of video streamer it supports torrents on the go or if you just want to download it for your convenience the range of options is just too wide to talk about in one reviewI feel like I'm just splurging
Summary: This is the unit you want I have had this unit up and running for 3 months now I have all my pictures, Movies and software backed up to this unit And can access everything from my phone, laptop and much more I let my friends access my stuff and they think its cool You can run your own little mini server and have a blast with your friends and family Easy to set up You don't have to be a Computer Guru Regards Rick
Summary: I bought WD Cavier Black drives for the NAS initially and they ran very loud and hot all the time. It is best to use lower power drives or Raid recommended drives for the NAS
Pros: As some others have stated this thing just works. I can reliably assume that the NAS will be running for me to access when I am away from home, however, this does also mean you will need a reliable internet connection too. The number of features available with this NAS are many. So far I've setup: Video Station, Photo Station, Audio Station, Surveillance Station, WebDAV. All have worked great.
Cons: Some less savvy users may have trouble getting the NAS accessible through the internet and getting certain features working.
