Summary: I've been heavily using this for my HTPC for 2 years now. It's good quality, run cool most of the time and is relatively quite, The biggest issue i have with it is the very VERY slow file transfer rates.

Summary: I have had nothing but problems with this NAS since I bought it about two years ago. I documented a whole page worth of bugs I found in the NAS Manager. Now, I can no longer access the NAS Manager to make any changes. I can no longer add any shares, or do any of the administration of the unit.

Summary: Don't bother buying it. Seagate even though device is still listed on their site, and can purchase it. Does not support updating the firmware. What does this mean? You are maxed out to 16TB. They already offer 5TB drives, but choose to not even update the firmware for these drive.
Product is excellent, but the dashboard to run it is mind boggling.

Summary: Bought this unit to replace an HP MediaCenter Home Server. The Home Server has been running mostly flawlessly for years. Nightly backups of our multiple PC's. RAID array. But it's way past its prime. Also had a NetGear NAS that servers well for many years but was also now functionally obsolete.
