Great while it lasted...

  • Summary: The drive's been working for 2years and 2 months. It's dead now. Just been using as a media server drive and system backups. Now it just reboots endlessly and makes a the notorious seagate clicking noise. UGHH!

The worst junk I have ever wasted my money on!

  • Summary: The BlackArmor Nas 110 is a piece of junk don't let any other review tell you otherwise. I bought this thing and have tried everything to get above a 500kb/s transfer rate. I have replaced routers, switches and cables to no avail. I hooked this thing to a enterprise class cisco (no linksys) router and wired it with Cat5e and still no dice. Over time I managed to slowly copy over 800GBs of data PAINFULLY!. Now I want to get it off; good luck!

"Stay away from Seagate!!!!"

  • Pros: Was fairly easy to setup
  • Cons: Setup was easy what I didn't know is I was the one being setup. The unit failed in a few months and I was using it as my primary source of storage and now they want $1,800 to rescue my data.

Works great - until it doesn't.

  • Summary: Like many other here, I've had this drive for just under a year. It was a decent way to access common docs, music and other files from the 7 PCs scattered though out our house, and act as a backup from our primary computers. I say was, because sometime over the weekend, it just died. Seagate's online troubleshooter wasn't very helpful.

It worked adequately, right up until it failed completely.

  • Summary: My background is 16 or so years in computer networking, with certifications in large scale NAS systems from EDS, Network Appliance and others. I know NAS devices. Setup requires some basic understanding of what your goal for this device is. In my case, it was nothing more than a network storage device... no streaming, nothing fancy. It's not well documented, so you have to pretty much set it up on your own which isn't really a big deal.

"Would not recommend this product to anyone."

  • Pros: Easy setup.
  • Cons: My drive also failed and I have lost all my data. I kept a copy on my computer - so I'm ok for now. Seagate offered to replace the entire system - but I have to return the entire unit to them.

Unreliable

Stanley Chan, Amazon

  • Summary: I've had the NAS 1TB drive for just under a year. It's been primarily used for backing up videos, pictures, media files, etc...and did the job quite well. It's been left powered on but used very infrequently. I don't have it set to do auto-backups of any kind, just used to offload important but rarely used files from my laptop. A few days back, the audible sound of frequent disk activity from the drive became more and more apparent.

Seagate BlackArmor NAS 1TB Drive

S. Potvin, Amazon
27 August 2011
  • Summary: I have been using the Seagate BlackArmor NAS for about 2 weeks now. My primary purpose with ordering this device was to create a location where all of my documents, pictures, music, and movies could be stored and accessed from multiple computers. This NAS drive did just that with an easy setup! Setup took under 5 minutes from the time I unpacked the unit to being able to access it on my computer.

A fine low--priced, basic NAS for users with limited needs

Jennifer Ray, Amazon
16 February 2011
  • Summary: **Update** May 13, 2012 A few months ago, I lost all access to this NAS. My backups were failing, which was the first alert I had to a problem. Unable to access the NAS through a web browser or the BlackArmor Discovery software, I rebooted it. The device shows a steady blue light for the hard drive activity indicator and a steady amber light for the system status indicator. Powering the device off for days helps nothing.
