QNAP TS-859 Pro

techPowerUp!
9 July 2010
  • Summary: Where am I to start with the QNAP TS-859 Pro. It costs as much as a high performance PC, but still manages to impress. QNAP has gone a long way and has created a powerful NAS with a very long feature set usually not found in such a unit usually categorized as a "network accessible storage" device.
  • Pros: Huge list of features, Excellent Graphical UI, Media Station is very nice, BitTorrent client built-in, Time Capsule functionality - backup for Mac., QGet excellent application for easy BitTorrent downloading to device, Backup functionality, Ability to act as hub for IP surveillance cameras, Hot-swappable drives, QMobile to view your media from the road, Great performance for small to medium sized businesses., Excellent web interface, PWM Fans, Gigabit network, Wireles...
  • Cons: Rather long booting times, Bad transcoding quality for video, Not a cheap investment, Power consumption much higher than what QNAP advertises
