Summary: QNAP continues to impress me with their products. The new TS-x70 line is definitely a huge improvement over the older TS-x69 one because of its upgraded hardware components. TS-470's performance then not only smoked the competition, but also all QNAP servers I have tested in the past. I expected a performance improvement with the new generation of NAS servers, but not one as huge as that of the TS-470.
Pros: Strong CPU (for a NAS) that can easily handle any task, High network transfer speeds (currently the fastest NAS I have tested), RAM can be easily upgraded, Support for four hot-swap disks, Can scale to 36 HDDs with 144 TB raw capacity (with optional, Highly intuitive administration interface, Tons of features, Rich multimedia capabilities, Supports all popular RAID levels, Four Gigabit ports (with LACP support), Can take a Dual-port 10 Gigabit Network Expansion Card (...
Cons: High price, No front USB 3.0 port, Boot and restart time remain long, Warranty should be longer, The trays are not numbered, Slow read speeds at multiple client tests, at least with our equipment
