Summary: The QNAP update made the NAS disappear and there is no help from the company. So if you purchase this NAS your only support is the documentation!
Pros: The unit was easy to set up and has very extensive documentation. It is very fast and works very well.
Cons: Very poor support. After an update the Qnap NAS disappeared from the items on my Windows 8.1 Network. While the documentation is extensive it provided little help to fix the problem. I emailed the company and received a response after two days which simply repeated the documentation. That was the...
Summary: Stay away from this product, spent hours with the Qnap support (which is very professional and tried to help). The box has a web interface that controls a Linux like OS, the box is based on. The Web interfaces creates users; groups; start/stop services.
Pros: Works great. Very flexible to do many different things.
Cons: Quit reading the disks after about 2 weeks. When trying to reboot, it gets stuck during the reboot process. Pulled all the disks and then it reset itself back to factory defaults. Tried to re-install everything from scratch, but still won't boot with any disks installed.
Summary: Works well, but it claims to be able to run websites but if you have a static ip which you will need to use as a web server forget it. Buy a server, as the firmware has issues that will not let you use a static ip. After 2 weeks e-mailing qnap had to give it up.
