Summary: The QNAP update made the NAS disappear and there is no help from the company. So if you purchase this NAS your only support is the documentation!
Pros: The unit was easy to set up and has very extensive documentation. It is very fast and works very well.
Cons: Very poor support. After an update the Qnap NAS disappeared from the items on my Windows 8.1 Network. While the documentation is extensive it provided little help to fix the problem. Summary: Three words - I Love It!. I populated this NAS with 4 WD Red 3TB drives for my 4 home PC network. It does everything and more what is advertised. It is easy to manage and to configure. With this unit on a UPS and "acres and acres" of storage, I expect this will last me a long time with confidence of my data being safe. This NAS being fully populated with 4 drives, it runs very cool and quiet.
Summary: I was pumped to buy this, but rational thought got the best of me. Bought an ASRock Mini ITX board, AMD 4.1 Ghz quad core with 8750 built in GPU, 16 Gb RAM, two 3 TB hard drives, PS & case for $675.
Pros: This is a great little system for a buy and forget it deal. Great homegrown OS Cool web access feature from your own URL
