Summary: Had my unit for several years now and it's still going strong. I have replaced two drives so far that were wearing out and the system using Raid 10 kept running while the system replicated the data across the new drives.
Summary: I am using this as a stand-alone server to stream music to my stereo. It is connected via Ethernet and has eliminated all of the problems I had previously had when trying to stream from my computer via WI-FI.
Summary: I would love to go into great detail on this QNAP, but I don't have much time right now... I do really want to sit down and go over the entire OS and the great features. For now, here are the 2 best features: 1) Amazon S3 backup. This has a built in software to connect to S3.
Summary: This replaced my HP media smart 4TB server. It's a great unit with more then most will ever use.
Pros: I've had this NAS for about 6 months now and love it. It's been rock solid, it's feature rich and the fan on it is nearly inaudible. I have this behind my couch in the media room and don't remember it's there half the time.
Cons: The only real con i've found so far is my case started to vibrate and it got quite loud. Since then I've placed a small book on top of the unit and it's been fine for a month.
Summary: As a QNAP user. Recently I saw the price of this model going down. I then purchase another unit. The performance is surprising fast and even close to the level of Intel based model which I used for my company. It is designed with a quiet cooling fan and running without noise. Great for home.
Summary: UPDATE after six months of constant use: This storage array has been in constant use as my home file server, bacup server, media server, and storage for my photo editing and video development. Now, back to my original review, already in progress...
Summary: QNAP builds solid NAS servers and provides excellent customer service both of which I want in anything I buy like this. This is a newer NAS from QNAP and it is one of the few SOHO ones that has USB 3.0 ports.
Summary: I used this product to replace a massive dell server configured in a RAID 5 setup for file storage. This blows it away for speed and has vastly improved network file retrieval and storage space. Its been a few months and I am still impressed.
Summary: This is my 2nd NAS unit and even though the cost was much more, it is so much better and faster than my previous model (not Qnap). The transfer speed going to and coming from the device is great.
