Summary: I bought QNAP NAS to serve as my home centralized storage, plex server and BT client. I am very impressed by the performance of the box, BT client is very good, plex transcoding to my apple tv thru iphone plex client and air play is working flawless. I found out that AFP implementation is messy (data corruption, performance issues) hope QNAP fix that quickly otherwise I am not able to use the box with time machine to backup my Macbook Pro and Air.
Buy it for the NAS not as a streaming media player

Summary: The NAS aspect works great. I also use this with a USB camera so I can record and monitor the house. The XBMC app needs updated and the Youtube app can't keep up with streaming HD videos and it doesn't give an option to select a lower quality rate, it just plays jerky video. HD video downloaded to the hard drive(s) plays and looks great.
Summary: I've had many, many NAS boxes over the years. Buffalo Technology, Eferent (Netgear) and built my own unRaid. I can say this has the fastest transfer speeds of all my past boxes. I have upgraded the RAM which is very easy to do for about $25. I have two of these units. One houses two 1TB enterprise class hard drives for my personal music collection. The other unit houses two SSDs for the family's personal photo collection. Needless to say, the SSD unit is quiet and fast.
Summary: Aside from it being a little pricey, what I gotta say is you get what you pay for. I just recently found out about the HD station and tried it out and it works great! Everyone should try it out... you get to watch all of your movies (and it plays all files!
