Summary: I've used for almost a year. It is quiet and reliable. Bu interface and software are not that easy for novice like me, but recently I updated the firmware, then, it becomes much better in management.
Summary: Did some research and went with a recommendation in buying this unit. Very easy to setup, and seems to be a very high quality device. Mainly purchased this to ensure I never lose family photos and important documents, and based on having used it for some time now without issue, feel very confident it achieves that for me.
Summary: I had this product from august 2012. It's very easy to configure and to acces this NAS . It has a good manual and intuitive interface. I'm using this NAS at home for few roles. I recommend this product.
Summary: While QNAP makes a great hardware device, their software support is terrible. For months, the users on the QNAP website have requested that QNAP push security patches to operating systems on the QNAP devices. All these requests have been ignored. They are several software packages installed in the QNAP OS that are so old they are not even supported any longer. PHP, mySQL, SAMBA to just name a few.
Summary: We use this product in conjunction with server grade HD's as a data server for our small office. It is great, the interface is easy to run (you dont have to know linux) Permissions are easy to setup and maintain. In addition, its small, takes almost no power, and runs very cool. If you dont need all the bells and whistles of a full Server OS, then this is the way to go. We just popped two 1TB drives in there and set up the RAID, and away we went. No complaints just yet.
Summary: I researched NAS units for two months before finally purchasing this unit. The feature set for this unit is plentiful and complete. I am not a sophisticated techie, but know enough that the features included with this unit should satisfy the most demanding small office or home media center NAS, I populated the bays with Hitachi 3 TB drives that are listed as compatible on the QNAP website.
Summary: Wish I had found this before buying a Dlink DNS-323. The QNAP NAS outperforms the 323 in every way. Much much faster read/write speeds. Yes it's more expensive but well worth it to me. 5 stars. Only ding is on amazon for recommending a hard drive that the manufacturer explicitly says not to use. If you are going to buy this and hard drive(s) to go along with it, then do yourself a favor and check drive compatibility at QNAP's web site first!
Summary: I bout this NAS because it has a strong feature set. The first unit I received would lock up about every two to three days and become unresponsive. I put in three calls to QNAP's technical support. I NEVER received a call back. I then submitted an online request for support. Three days later I still had not received a reply. I finally contacted Amazon and they replaced the unit for me.
