The Qnap TS-219P is a powerful and extremely useful little NAS box, it won’t take up much space or make a lot of noise, but it will allow you to do things over your network that you’ve only dreamed of. It’s certainly much more than a backup device… The interface is very nicely down and easy to navigate for even the most novice of user. Anyone can have the Qnap TS-219P up and running on their network in a matter of minutes really. Read more

    • +Quick and easy setup, +Nicely designed and well made, +Quiet, +Easy to use for even the novice user, +Extremely useful, +Can be enhanced with add-on packages
    • Might be considered expensive by some, A bit slower than others (could be due to the 2.5″ drives access times)

When it comes to a cool feature packed Network Attached Storage device you'll be hard pressed to find anything more versatile than the QNAP TS-219P NAS.  It comes with a whole laundry list of features specific to the task of serving up files but also for serving up other things like web applications, multimedia content, dynamic database content and even downloading files over BitTorrent. • Powerful 1.2Ghz processor, 512MB DDR2 RAM, Gigabit Ethernet, 2 Hot-Swap SATA drive support, Fancy new web interface, Surveillance station, iSCSI for storage expansion,...

So where do I stand when it comes to evaluating the QNAP TS-219P as an overall unit? The benchmark results are certainly respectable. You can count on performance in the range of 20 to 40MB/s depending on file size and transfer rate. The difference between RAID 0 and RAID 1 is large enough that you'll notice a small increase in speed but at the same time small enough that you won't be waiting forever while data is duplicated to both drives. • Extensive expansion options: 3 USB, 2 eSATA, Linux based operating system is rock solid with new AJAX GUI, Consistent performance
    • External power adapter required Thank you QNAP for making this review possible.

As well as being very powerful, the TS-219P has a wide range of features. It's a great NAS system, but its rather functional design might put some people off. Read more

    • High speeds over SMB/CIFS and FTP, Quiet operation, Attractive, easy-to-use interface, Large range of functions
    • Disappointing USB and eSATA speeds, Slightly bulky design

An extra £15 will get you the Thecus M3800, which has three drive bays with Raid 5 support and a 1080p HDMI output so you can view media directly on a TV alongside its regular Nas capabilities. But the TS-219P is better value, easier to use and has a more complete interface plus a bounty of software features. The TS-219P has a more comprehensive firmware than any other dual-bay Nas we’ve tested. Read more

Hands down, this is the best server I've ever owned for my home. It's fast, reliable, stable and I love that I can access my data anywhere on the web. I've had the TS-219P for a month now and I'm still finding new things this thing can do. Every type of serving (FTP, Multi-Media, Web, photos, etc.) is readily and easily available with this unit. I bought this as an "open-box" from Newegg, at a significant discount. When I got it, it was obvious that the box had never been opened - hey, I won't complain. Read more
