Awesome Device, great for Virtualization

  • Summary: Don't pay attention to bad reviews who use the stupid "GREEN" drives. Read the Manual and the drive compatibility list!!! the green drives WILL NOT WORK in a RAID and will fail within a few weeks because of the way they work.
  • Pros: These unit blow every SMB NAS device out of the water. I have bought over 20 of these units through Newegg (NVX, 4200, 2100, pro, etc) I am an IT consultant for over 50 SMBs and after reviewing QNAP, HP, Cisco devices, I would recommend nothing else but ReadyNAS. • Cons: Failed just after a month of use, very slow read/write speeds, basically put the network to a crawl on large backups even on gigE, resizing the array can only be done one disk at a time and took 48hrs each time, I did this three times before I started. Also it is not compatible with Western Digit...

  • Summary: DOA... need I say more.
  • Pros: DOA - Absolutely no pros. Wish I could have gave it 0 eggs
  • Cons: DOA It booted up then died. Called Netgear tech support, who were very helpful, only to have it die while I was on the phone. Needed to get this up over the weekend so I can transfer files and start working again on Monday, but no. At this point, I would never recommend this unit
