Pros: Initially this device functioned as advertised, worked great.
Cons: However, about 9 months after purchase, it developed slow read/write behavior. I put it on the shelf at the time. When I pulled the unit to reactivate it and see if I could figure out the issues (still in progress), Netgear informed me that they were only providing me with a 3 year warranty, not ...
Summary: I have been using a full year already and no one single complain, everthing works perfect. The device is as described and promoted. No better option to store all your files in a central saved place.
Summary: This is my second unit. After moving all my data and getting it running it went belly up. I am once again waiting for netgear to telnet into the box to see if I can get my data back. Thank god for carbonite. I backup everything to them.
Great NAS, lots of features, but fan dead in 9 months.

Summary: I bought two of these Pro Pioneer Ed. from Amazon. One of them is still running great but the second one has loud fan from day one and the system fan is now dead after 9-months of about 6 hour per week of power-on time.
Summary: I bought this unit to back up 3 computers, as well as to store all entertainment media (movies, music, video) to feed a dedicated HTPC. My experience: I love this product! Started with a couple of 1TB drives, went to four, and yesterday added two 2TB drives.
Summary: I installed this server for a small business. When plugged to a Gigabit network, the speed is amazing. In the past, I had played with ReadyNAS Duo and in term of speed, you cannot compare those 2 products.
Summary: They should setup a community add-on verification process and allow the units to scan for available 'verified' add-ons.
Pros: Fantastic network storage appliance. I had the NV+ for 5 years and found it to be a bit slow but a solid little machine. On the old NV+ I upgraded the entire set of 4 hard drives twice during my ownership with out a hitch. This machine is far faster with plenty of CPU left to host dynamic web sites.
Cons: Pretty expensive, but well worth it for the time saved.
Summary: Aside from my frustrations above, calling netgear support for issue 2 was rather nice. They offer a long term support which is very pricey. If I was a business owner, then yes in a heartbeat, but not for home use.
Pros: Super fast, lots of servers and services available. Great community forums (check them out before you buy) readynas.com Typical transfer rates are 80-100 MBps (love gigabit connections).
Cons: There are few issues to work around. 1. The fan ran at max speed. There was a fix you download off readynas site and switch a cable around inside the unit. now is quite, but for the price shouldn't have to do that. 2. Kept hanging and dropping off the network. A required a cold reboot(unplugging ...
Summary: I currently use the Pro with its stock 1GB of RAM and six SAMSUNG Spinpoint F1 HD103UJ 1TB HDD and dedicated UPS. With the NAS connected to an unmanaged 1GE network, and 37% full I get sustained Write/Read access rates of 92/70 MBytes/sec in RAID5, while consuming only 85Watts.
Pros: I currently own ReadyNAS products ranging from the beginning with the X6 and NV+ to their current product, the Pro. I use these products as they were intended as back up systems and as a file/media server for my networked PCs. Setup for me was painless as turning it on with one disk, and sequenti...
Cons: At twice the price I paid for the NV+, you wouldn't be human if you didn't balk a bit. But then this NAS finally has enough horsepower to do more than just backup files from your PC. The Pro is a sophisticated file server with many options, as a result, it can be somewhat daunting and time consum...
