Summary: I've been using this for several years on my home network in conjunction with a pair of 3TB Hard Drives in raid 1 configuration. I use it primarily as a media server to stream videos and music to multiple entertainment systems in my home.
NETGEAR ReadyNAS Ultra 4 Plus (Diskless) Network Attached Storage device.
12 December 2012
Summary: ordered the seagate constellation drive(2TB) at the same time and although i checked to have everything delivered in one shipment it came in two(2). After a fashion got it up and working. lost my initial share(logical drive) config. but no data.
Summary: I bought one of the first ReadyNAS devices about 10 years ago when the company manufacturing them was Infrant. Netgear acquired Infrant a few years ago, but the products look almost the same with only hardware improvements along the way. I just upgraded a couple months ago to this version.
Excellent Home NAS device, but don't plan to transcode on the fly
12 August 2012
Summary: I purchased this item after going through quiet a bit of reading/research. Used the readynas site for user's input, which I found useful. When I pulled the trigger, I knew that it wasn't the unit that fit one need but hoped I could manage with it.
Summary: I use NetGear's products extensively in my line of work (IT support for the Healthcare industry). While I do have my occasional problems with some of NetGear's line (switches), I generally have little to no trouble with their NAS devices. The Ultra 4 (configured with four 2Tb disks) simply rocks.
Summary: After losing one hard drive I've always been worried about future drives failing. You end up losing photos videos and personal documents that just can't be replaced. Data redundancy is something that every one should have any home solution. Netgear's readyNAS box accomplishes this.
Ultra 4+ Rock Solid...ReadyNas support and Apps could be better
10 May 2012
Summary: The physical hardware is rock solid. I have had the NAS running for about a month now. Running 1 2TB, 2 3TB Seagate drives in XRaid. The two 3TB drives are not on the HCL. I decided to go with it after ReadyNas support advised me that they do not test all drives and that I could put any drive I...
Summary: Don't be fooled by the marketing, the 3 licenses of Memeo PC backup software don't come with the product and when I called tech support they knew nothing about it. They could only send me to the Memeo web page where I could buy a license for $50.
Summary: I have put all of my CDs (300+), family pictures, movies, and am still only at 2% usage with 3 drives in this. The network access can periodically be spotty, but if you're persistent, it works well.
