Summary: I bought 2 of these about 5 years ago. One died about a year ago - wouldn't power on. This weekend, the 2nd one died. It will power on but initially couldn't get past a filesystem check. I gave it 3 days to run, but nothing so I cold booted it. Now it's displaying a kernel panic error.
Summary: Got one of these about a couple of years ago and its worked well. Mine is a v1 (SPARC architecture), and as such, it is limited by hardware to a maximum of 2TB drives. If you are adventurous and attempt to use 3TB drives, they are only recognized as 750GB, so you can't even use them in a pinch if...
Summary: I purchased this almost four years ago and just had my first issue with it - the power supply failed. When I used ReadyNAS tech support, they issued me an RMA with no questions and shipped me a new power supply under warranty. Very happy with the product and the customer service.
Summary: This has been a very reliable NAS - I had a power supply issue at 2 yrs which was replaced free and the support from Netgear was very good, that was 3 yrs ago. I have upgraded memory to 1Gb and put in 4-2Tb drives on RAID 10. This is my Video Drive.
Summary: I have been limping along with this thing for several years, and it has NEVER performed as I would have liked. Today I got a Kernel Panic, so it looks like I'll be buying a new system which will NOT be Netgear. Customer service is crappy (and just to get it requires hours of hoop-jumping).
Summary: this NAS somehow eats harddrives. I have never had more issues with failing drives until i used this NAS. I can take a harddrive and put it in a desktop or server and it will run years without throwing out bad sector warnings.
Summary: The gigabit connection is a joke because this thing can't go over 12 MB/s that's about 100 Mbits And no, it's not because a link misconfiguration, the link is configured to gbit the problem is that the CPU on it is so slow it goes to 100% usage with just that much data comming to it of course, the...
Summary: I won't repeat much of what's already been said in the other reviews in other pages, but to summarise, I've been using this ReadyNAS for over 3 - 4 years now, so my review is based on proper hectic usage rather than out-of-the-box or 1 month usage.
