  • Summary: This product is a must for those interested in a media server to access from home or on the road (cable modem and static IP is required?). Streaming music and video at home is a breeze. The configuration can be easy to complex depending on the features you plan on utilizing.

Happy With Second ReadyNAS Unit

K-Man "KMan", Amazon
  • Summary: Purchased this in August 2014 to replace an older ReadyNAS Duo v.1. Purchased 2 x WD 4TB Reds to start the system with. Started by inserting the first drive and updating the firmware to the latest, then reset the system with the second drive inserted to form a 2 disk X-RAID2 setup. System has been running for a month and a half and so far disks are doing well as is the NAS. Running system at home with Macs, Win 7 PC and several VMs, using SMB, AFP, and NFS.

It's a nice NAS for the money

M. Porter, Amazon

  • Summary: It's a nice NAS for the money. The only issue I have is the ReadyCLOUD does not always load so it is very easy to have that out of sync, I was hoping to replace Dropbox with that. I may look at other options in the future. I also have PLEX running and the performance is good.

The Netgear ReadyNas is excellent for home use

Andrew Chan "PianoBench", Amazon
21 August 2014
  • Summary: The Netgear ReadyNas is excellent for home use. Business use however is a whole other ball game. This Netgear ReadyNas does not work well with windows active control list. Because we did not have a windows active domain at my office, we did not get to try that feature out. The netgear readynas user domain software was just not ready for proper use in a business setting. For example; creating folders within folders of a shared folder using netgear local user domains.

So far, so good!

Amazon Customer, Amazon
11 August 2014
  • Summary: I'm sure someone with more networking savvy could do greater things with this solution, but the ReadyNAS 314 is currently doing everything that I need it to do. It backs up all of my computers (including two using Time Machine), holds all of my documents, and serves music and video through Plex. Despite the expense, I've found it a useful addition to my home network.
