Summary: I will be perfectly happy to re-rate this system after I have had more time with it. From the hardware perspective, it is well made, sturdy, and well finished. I bought the unit without hard drives, bought the hard drives separately, and very easily installed them.
Summary: I work in IT, and have dealt with the professional line of NETGear NAS units. Bought this and populated it with 4 6TB WD Drives designed for NAS devices. They're on the approved hardware list. Updated unit to latest firmware. Overall, I would describe the device as average.
Summary: The unit itself is relatively simple to set up. For a home user or corporate user who have IT personnel onsite, this is a reasonable system. That is until you need tech support. Mine had a drive fail inside of 30 days of putting it into use.
NETGEAR Customer Service Terrible - Online Backup Storage Service Very Expensive

Summary: Netgear's Customer Service is among the worst I have ever experienced. I purchased this product last week. The product appears good so far. However, I was extremely unhappy to learn that in order to get the online backup service that I read about in the product's advertisement it was going to cost...
Pros: Easy to setup the device, works out of the box. So far reliable.
Cons: Not accessible from one of my 3 computers on the network. Called customer support and they outright refused to help me figure out why. Plus, the guy on the line acted like he didn't have his coffee this morning. 0/10 on customer support.
Summary: Worked very well until I needed to change one of the drives. NB A little slow when accessing via Mac due to AFP speeds. The ReadyNAS configuration was 2 x 3TB and 2 x 1TB all as one volume Raid 6. So I replaced a drive 3TB disc with confidence and waited 7hrs for it to rebuild.
