Summary: Can't really make much of a comment as have not been able to get the damn thing to work with Windows7 as yet, seem to be a software problem as is visible on the network & not blocked by the firewall, if I ever get it going I'll post an update,8( Also you do not need to purchase the SATA cable kit advertised with it, it's got a hot swap bay for the 2nd drive.
Summary: Bought a 1TB stora a couple of weeks ago, with a second hard drive for RAID backup. To cut a long and boring story short, after two weeks of setting up, reinstalling, rebooting and reconfiguring, I've sent it back for a refund. When it works, it's brilliant. But then the next day it disapears from the network, or can only be seen by 1 PC and not other DLNA devices, or the web interface cannot log on.
Great potential, but security/privacy model flawed

Summary: Just got my Stora up and running, but will be returning it. The basic idea is great and the execution is decent, but the fact that NetGear forces you to store the username and password for a device in your home on a central server and forces you to maintain a connection to this central server is just not something that I am willing to accept. This device will not work as a NAS restricted to your private network.
When novelty wears off - it really disappoints - mine finally broke with no repair.

Summary: A brief review to warn you about the problems: - there is no direct backup to the device - it must happen through the network. - it 'occasionally' connects to other devices (PS3, etc) - it is so temperamental that I eventually gave up looking for it and if I needed a file I just copied it (w/ USB drive) from the original computer. - it is noisy.
ONLY useful if you want to access it from the Internet

Summary: This item is advertised as a Network Attached Storage device as well as a Server. - It is NO SUCH THING What Netgear don't advertise is that you ABSOLUTELY MUST connect to the Internet in order to run the setup, and use it in any meaningful way. This has two drawbacks - first is that if your internet access is down, you're up the creek.
Summary: It arrived, I set it up, I put the CD in the drive and ... "The procedure entry point IcmpSendEcho could not be located in the dynamic link library iphlpapi.dll" ... hummm I thought, ring technical advice. 0800 015 0562, good I thought a freephone number. The recording said that the number had changed to 0870 112 1206 so I rang that number and ... the number has changed to 0844 8764000 so ...
