Summary: This product tarnished the Linksys good name in my eyes. Very difficult to get data off the Linux formatted drives after failure, I'm sticking with added drives to an old PC as my backup solution.
Pros: Compact, cool looking NAS. Up to 1 terabyte of connected storage. Good web interface.
Cons: My NAS died after 2 months, would not power up. Called tech support and they seemed to understand what was wrong and basically said that I had to "buy a new one"
Summary: The 10/100Mb ethernet connection /should be/ the data bottleneck but it is not. For sustained data transfer the best I ever got was less than half of 10Mb speed. Have upgraded firmware twice (2 diff revisions) and lockups and slowness are still issues. I've had it with this thing.
Cons: Painfully slow transferring data to/from unit. Forget trying to stream any video from it. It is on a Gigabit network and I can't even get close to 10Mb speeds. Locks up about once every 2-3 weeks which requires pulling the plug. It has a scheduled shutdown feature but I don't know what good it is...
Summary: cntd... Luckily I realized it in few days and checked it in garbage bin. I work in IT industry n I use 2 cnfgre RAID1 on servers. Let's say 1 HDD goes bad I can replace wid a new HDD, d sytem will build d mirror again (it will copy d contents of gud one 2 d new HDD automatically) that's d whole...
Cons: Expensive, Doesnt serves d purpose at all. I bought this piece of junk n 2*1.5 TB HDD. I inserted 1 HDD 1st and copied 2 movies with great difficulty. The 2nd drive arrived 2 days later. I inserted the 2nd drive hoping to create a mirror w/o data loss. I cudn't. Had a chat wid Linksys tech suppor...
Summary: Cisco wants you to but their expensive products. I hate products that turn from good to useless.
Pros: Low cost NAS device.
Cons: Cisco has hobbled this device for only class C networks which makes it useless in anything but a home or mini office. Found the same problem on other Linksys products so I will no longer buy Linksys.
Cons: Slow! when it works. Scandisk may run, and cause unit to be non-response during startup/shutdown. Overheating caused drives to ultimately fail even when kept as documented with nothing obstructing in cool basement.
Summary: do yourself a favor buy a different product
Pros: holds files
Cons: software is faulty, major problem is that you cant change anything if you try to change password or add user it locks you out. using admin i can gain access to file area but the admin options to fix or setup anything else locks me out saying wrong username or password.
