Great simple back up

Frank, Amazon

  • Summary: Simple interface. Uses web or you can easily map drive. Has multiple features including web access and private cloud feature. I never activate these services since there is much risk (as reported many times on the web). Smart media software and a bunch of other stuff. I use this device as a simple back up to my other network devices. Wow. for the price, it is fantastic.

Does as advertised, but nothing more

DARINTH, TigerDirect.com
6 February 2014
  • Summary: It's a simple, but functional NAS device. Lacks support for some more advanced features, which is disappointing considering you can tell that it's running a version of linux and could easily be extended with further applications. The device is locked down however, so the idea of using it for anything more than NAS doesn't work.

Not For Advanced Users, Good For 1st time NAS User

  • Summary: I bought this device on sale for $70 bucks so I wasn't expecting much. While it is certainly in the budget category, you couldn't tell by looking at it. The build quality is more than acceptable. As other user's have reported, it does make a little chirping noise as the disks spin up but it didn't bother me. I was disappointed at with the lack of Linux support (beyond samba) and even more disappointed to discover the extent to which this device is locked down.

Exceeded expectations

  • Summary: I was expecting this nas to be somewhat slow and cumbersome to use based on previous experience with other nas drives. I was pleasantly surprised at my experience with this one. I use this drive for immediate backup from 2 computers in my house and file transfer speed seems to be good. The user interface is a little slow but once you get the settings the way you like them it is a non-issue. I also back this drive up to an external usb drive using a copy job.

Exactly What We Needed

CB, TigerDirect.com
13 January 2014
  • Summary: This is the fourth media drive I have purchased for our company. We have one in each of our office locations and it is perfect to store shared documents on our networks. I only gave the features a 4 rating because we don't use the cloud features and I can't speak to those. They are easy to setup (make sure to have the latest firmware) and are low maintenance after setup. When we expand again, I will purchase another unit.

Decent Basic Network Storage

stanhorst,, TigerDirect.com
11 January 2014
  • Summary: I purchased this NAS to create a photo database on my home network, so we would stop storing duplicate pictures on our various computers. The concept worked great, but the speed of access is not as good as I would have hoped. Still working on a way to improve it. Perhaps it is something in the settings. The NAS was easy to set up, basically plug-n-play. The only drawback has been access speed.
