Summary: This drive offers plenty of useful features, such as a choice of RAID modes, easy accounts management, etc. I use it for backup and media streaming over my home network and it's been working great.
Unsuitable for backups: started flaky and got worse

Summary: I have to agree with the previous reviews that complained about the user interface: it's excruciatingly slow. If that was the only problem, my review would be 3 stars. However, the reliability of the hardware has never been good, and now (after 5 months) it goes up and down randomly.
Summary: I bought this to use with my pc for storing music, photos and video. It works very well. I like that apart from the rich range of features the drive has a nice design and an easy to use administrator interface.
Summary: Warning to Mac users: I purchased one Lacie Big drive 18 months ago, another Lacie Big drive 24 months ago. I just upgraded to Mac OS X Lion. Neither drive works after the upgrade. The Lacie web site said that the "solution" to this problem was to revert back to Snow Leopard. Not really a solution.
Summary: This drive is fast, quiet and a perfect solution for backing up wired and wireless systems on my LAN. The setup was easy as I just connected the drive to my router and viola' had 2TB more disk storage to work with.
Summary: I use this product since almost 2 years now to backup my data. For utmost security I set it up as a RAID 1 system as recommended by LaCie, so all data is mirrored on to the second internal disc.
Summary: I've had the unit for one month and I'm really liking it so far. With most family members having gained a laptop/netbook over the last couple of years it makes it so very nice to have a central repository for files.
Summary: LaCie has built a terminally defective product in that it is way too easy for the product to "brick" with no chance of recovering your data. LaCie's warranty is also very explicit that if this product suffers any malfunction under warranty, they will make absolutely no efforts to recover your data.
Summary: The hardware is great, though it took longer than I expected to mount it on our family LAN. After some tweaking over the first week I had it, it runs fine. The one thing that irritated me was the Genie back up manager that came with the drive.
