Summary: Ive been using this drive for about 1.5 years, and it worked really well with Time Machine on my Mac. I was able to quickly migrate to different computers twice in that time with no problems at all. The only problem is it stopped working. Dead. It had been unplugged while I was out of town, when it was plugged in again, it just wouldn't turn on. Tested it with different sockets and surge protectors and with the USB cable attached, but there was no blue light.
Summary: It's big, it's bulky. I use a Mac Powerbook and it isn't automatically set up for Mac, so there is a bit of set-up but I wouldn't call it plug and play. There are so many great SMALL hard drives out there. Why clutter up the desk with a piece of equipment with a footprint this size? I know it can stand on its side. Still, it's a hunk. It's fast, data transfer rate is great. But I don't think there is anything special or stellar about this product.
Summary: While like most people, I love the aesthetic value of the 2TB LaCie Network Attached Storage Hard Drive... I'm also very disappointed with the software they include. It times out, runs slowly, and prevents me from simply opening finder and heading there to delete files... it locks them all up so they can't be touched frequently. Setting up the iTunes has been impossible. When I click on the server under shared files, it simply returns me to my main library.
mix of terrifically convenient and maddeningly awkward

Summary: I bought this drive in order to store my music library to play without always having to plug in an external drive. Upon receiving it, I made the mistake of not following the set up instructions, instead going the plug n play route and copying all my music over via ethernet (albeit, slowly).
Summary: This product looked great when I took it out of the package, and the storage is massive! However, set up was NOT a breeze and using the device is not as simple as other similar devices I have used. The more I work with the device, the easier it gets, but there is a learning curve with this one. Also, this device is designed for networks, not single computer storage.
Summary: There is a lot to recommend this attractive, quiet little box. Generally, I have had good results with Lacie USB-attached hard drives. However, it took me several attempts to backup my computers onto this network-attached device. I would get a lost connection and the backup software would terminate. I was then unable to power down the server in order to restart it. I had to pull the plug. This happened several times times. I ultimately got all the way through the backup.
Summary: I loved this drive right up to the moment I received the message "Update Failed". I used the media-server to stream music and films to my PS3 - for me this worked pretty much out of the box. It lists directories and content very quickly unlike some other devices I have tried (and returned) and streams all the content I have tried very well. I also store all the photos I take.
