Terrific NAS for the price. Great reliability. A few rough software edges at first but then flawless for over 4 years!

Summary: I have had one of these running 24/7 since January 2010. There were a few firmware glitches in the first month or so that produced false heat warnings but the unit worked fine even then. After a firmware update it has been running and in daily use for over 4 years.
Summary: A great little NAS , not the fastest , but for the price and features included well wort it . So far has been reliable , been on 24/7 for over 7 months and not one problem .
Pros: So far it has worked well , FW and software updates are easy , simple to set up and use . Lots of options , from recording remote cameras to watching the house while away , upload videos while on vacation , this is a great little device with plenty of storage .
Summary: I had severe problems with the device at first. After so many files were copied there, it would just start freezing. After figuring out how to get to the linux shell, I discovered it was the file indexing software that was causing my problems.
An enormous evolution from the original Storcenter

Summary: I own the first-generation Storcenter, which has served me well for a couple of years. So I was especially blown away by the Storcenter ix2-200. Everything about it is a huge improvement from the original, from the physical design of the unit to the speed of the drive to the ease of the setup...
Summary: I have been using this for a little over a year so far for both my primary storage of photos and as my Time Machine backup. I have used it in mirror mode that provides data redundancy. It also serves as my Print Server.
Summary: I believe that if you are looking at this device, you want something that backups up data, Is accessible via the internet through solid built Web-based software and Raid Mirroring for redundancy.
Pros: Instructions were well done and efficient. Device is easily set up and maintained via a Administrative console. Zero problems with heat (Fan works very well, I tested it in multiple environments and it adjusted the fan level very well without being loud). Relatively quiet even when writing. Works...
Cons: 2 months ownership and not a single thing worthy to put under Con at the moment, but will edit if anything crops up.
Summary: I have always trusted Iomega. I have several of their portable hard drives and thumb drives and they have always delivered with a quality product. The 4Tb StorCenter was added to my LAN for media and document backup, not as a media server (though it will do that too).
